A HORSE has died after falling into a river.Firefighters were called out to fields off Birches Head Road in Birches Head just before 10.55am this morning.But the crews – who had come from Newcastle, Hanley and Leek – were unable to save the animal. The horse was pulled out of the River Trent with animal rescue equipment.
